Batman Day Signals U.S. Launch of DC’s Digital Subscription Service

DC fans have something to celebrate on September 15 as DC Comics will launch their long-awaited digital subscription service, DC UNIVERSE. This service is available in the U.S. on IOS, Android, Apple TV, Android TV, and the Roku platform as well as on the web and mobile devices. Membership in this first-of-its-kind digital subscription service gives fans access to exclusive original live-action and animated series, classic TV series and films, a curated selection of digital comic books, breaking news including the all-new DC Daily show, an expansive DC encyclopedia, and access to exclusive merchandise.

Coordinating their launch with Batman Day, DC UNIVERSE is offering a variety of Bat-centric materials throughout the month of September. Featured films include Batman, Batman Forever, Batman Returns, Batman & Robin, Batman Begins, and The Dark Night. Animated titles include the new animated movies Batman Ninja, and Gotham By Gaslight– a steampunk alternate history version of our favorite Caped Crusader.

They are also highlighting Batman animated series, including Batman Beyond, as well as documentary specials: Batman Tech and The Dark Knight Unmasked, The Psychology Of Batman. If that’s not enough Batman for you, the DC UNIVERSE allows you to read comic books online. You’ll even find DETECTIVE COMICS (1937-) # 27, the very first appearance of the Bat-Man in the six-page story “The Case of the Criminal Syndicate!”

If bats aren’t your thing, DC UNIVERSE offers so much more! You will be able to explore the worlds of Superman, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Teen Titans, Green Lantern, Constantine, Static Shock and more. You can dip into the past with George Reeves and Lynda Carter, or join in the anticipation of upcoming live-action shows including the one with Robin dropping the F-bomb in Titans, which is slated for release on October 12. Other exclusive upcoming shows include Young Justice: Outsiders, Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing, Harley Quinn, and Stargirl.

At the risk of sounding like an infomercial, I have to say, “But wait, there’s more!” Subscribers will also have access to DC Daily, a weekday show that will bring you news on everything DC related – TV (including CW’s Arrowverse), movies, animation, video games, merch and more. As of this writing, the live launch of DC UNIVERSE, hosted by DC fan and director (and my personal inspiration) Kevin Smith, is available for viewing and I am looking forward to seeing more.

In addition to all of this, the community boards allow fans to connect with others in the DC community, join in discussions of comics and media, connect with DC talent, show off your work with fan contributions, earn premium rewards and participate in sweepstakes and contests.

All of this exclusive content can be yours for the subscription price of $7.99 per month or $74.99 annually. Both monthly and annual subscriptions include a seven-day free trial. DC UNIVERSE is operated by Warner Bros. Digital Networks in collaboration with DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Digital Labs. To learn more visit www.dcuniverse.com.
