BREAKING: Netflix axes Luke Cage

After canceling Marvel’s Iron Fist a week ago and recently announcing the cancellation of the hit series, Orange is The New Black, Netflix has revealed that another show will join the round of cancellations.

In a Deadline exclusive, it was revealed that Marvel’s Luke Cage has been canceled. Marvel’s and Netflix’s official statement can be read below:

“Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.”

Marvel’s Luke Cage was executive produced by series showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker (SouthLAndRay Donovan) along with Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Jessica JonesMarvel’s Daredevil), and Jim Chory (Marvel’s Jessica JonesMarvel’s Daredevil).

The first episode of Season 2 was directed by Lucy Liu. In season 2, we saw the return of Mike Colter, Rosario Dawson, Theo Rossi and Alfre Woodard. Joining the cast during Season 2 we saw The Night Of‘s Mustafa Shakir, Insecure‘s Gabrielle Dennis and The Sopranos‘ Annabella Sciorra.
