The Walking Dead’s Jeryl Prescott joins Swamp Thing

It was revealed today that actress Jeryl Prescott has been cast as Madame Xanadu for the upcoming TV adaptation of Swamp Thing. The character description for this iteration of Madame Xanadu states that she is a ‘blind fortune teller with a mysterious past and supernatural perceptions that reveal the future’.

Swamp Thing is written by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman, and the two will executive produce with Wiseman, Wan and Michael Clear.

The outlet describes this version of Abby Arcane as follows:

Smart and caring, CDC Doctor Abby Arcane’s (Crystal Reed) strong sense of empathy puts her at the center of a horrific life-threatening epidemic in her hometown, where she faces emotional demons from her past… while a chance meeting with scientist Alec Holland takes her into a world of horror and the supernatural, and of the elemental creature known as Swamp Thing.

Jeryl Prescott is most known for her work on AMC’s The Walking Dead. She’s played Jacqui on the series.

Swamp Thing first appeared in House of Secrets #92 in July of 1971. He has appeared in two feature films, an animated series and more. He often tackles environmental issues in his stories as he tries to protect his swamp home. Madame Xanadu, on the other hand, just celebrated her 40th anniversary in the DC Comics.

The series will premiere on the DC Universe digital subscription service and is based on the characters from DC Comics created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson. Swamp Thing is on the way from James Wan’s Atomic Monster and Warner Bros. Television.
