Riverdale casts Gina Gershon as Jughead’s mom and more info from NYCC

Today it was announced at the Riverdale panel at New York Comic-Con that Gina Gershon (Rescue MeHouse of Versace) is set to play Jughead’s mother, according to Deadline, and that’s not all the news out of the panel. We’re also going to meet his sister. While Gershon plays Gladys Jones, newcomer Trinity Likins will play Jellybean “JB” Jones). They will reportedly appear first on the Riverdale episode airing December 12, 2018.

Gladys Jones runs a salvage yard that is also a Serpent compound. The site describes the character as “the type who the Serpents all snap to attention when she gives them an order. A Serpent with a GED, she acts as Fagin to a crew of teenaged car parts thieves.” Jellybean “JB” Jones is reportedly a wise girl with a love of Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath who lives with Gladys in Toledo, running scams with her.

Gershon is known for her work on the FX series Rescue Me, HBO’s Curb Your EnthusiasmRed OaksHouse of Versace, and in films like Face/OffBoundThe Player and the recent Killer Joe, for which she won Best Supporting Actress at the Toronto Film Festival. Likins is a relative newcomer who was just cast as the lead in the Hallmark film Christmas in the Air and has appeared on the CBC miniseries Unspeakable.

Riverdale stars Cole Sprouse, KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Madelaine Petsch,Marisol Nichols ,Ashleigh Murray, Casey Cott, Mark Consuelos, and Skeet Ulrich. Riverdale is based on the Archie Comics characters and comes to us from Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television.
