Today we have the debut of Disney’s live-action Aladdin film poster, as shared by Will Smith, who will be playing Genie. In the tweet, Smith says, “LEMME OUT! Can’t wait for y’all to see Me Blue!” You can check out the post with the new poster below.

Aladdin is directed by Guy Ritchie (Sherlock HolmesThe Man from U.N.C.L.E.) and written by John August (Dark ShadowsBig Fish). The film is based on the 1992 animated film which starred the voice of the late Robin Williams as Genie. (There was actually a tribute that involved a genie in the online game World of Warcraft after Williams’ death, as he was a huge fan of the game.) Eight-time Academy Award-winnerAlan Menken (Beauty and the Beast) composed the score.

Disney has been doing a lot of live-action remakes like Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson and Maleficent, a different version of the story of Sleeping Beauty. There was a CGI version of The Jungle Book and an upcoming version of The Lion King, though calling them live-action is a tiny bit problematic. They certainly look it, but they use quite a bit of very cool tech to do so. We also have a live-action version of Mulan on the way.

Aladdin will hit theaters on May 24, 2019. What do you guys think of the poster? We may get our first look at the film tomorrow, so stay tuned. Are there other Disney films you think need the live-action or CGI treatment? Let us know in the comments.
