David Harbour looks fierce in new Hellboy photo

Empire has delivered an exclusive photo from the upcoming adaptation of Hellboy and, man, does David Harbour look different. This is the first photo we’ve seen from the upcoming film and it certainly revels in the grit and grime that many of us have come to connect with the comics.

Neil Marshall also shared with the outlet that this Hellboy was not going to be as chill and laidback as the cinematic version of old. No, this reboot was going to revert back to the source material that Mike Mignola had laid out:

“It was always a case of, ‘When in doubt, go back to the source material. Some of the stuff is pretty sick. More violent and more bloody. We weren’t making it with handcuffs on.”

In my defense, I have only ever seen Harbour in Netflix’s Stranger Things, so I’m having a heck of a time trying to see past the current image I have of him in my mind and replacing him with this image right here. I also have to highly commend the makeup artists for bringing the titular comic book character to life once more. The work is absolutely stunning.

David Harbour stars as the Hellboy himself. He will be starring alongside Ian McShane (Professor Trevor Bruttenholm aka Professor Broom), Milla Jovovich (Nimue), Sasha Lane (Alice Monaghan), Penelope Mitchell (Ganeida), and Daniel Dae Kim is playing Major Ben Daimio.

Neil Marshall will direct from a script by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and the character’s creator, Mike Mignola. Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin will produce with Mike Richardson of Dark Horse Entertainment.

The tentative release date for the film is April 12, 2019, but this may change. Seriously, you guys, what do you think about the Hellboy banner? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us at @LegionofLeia.
