When I created Legion of Leia years ago, it was because I wanted to get the word out that female fans of geek entertainment and culture are legion. When I first started reporting, I was one of the only women out there doing what I did, but as I met people at conventions and on the road, it was clear (as it always had been to me) that there were female fans out there that companies were ignoring. I started the #WheresRey campaign because I wanted to know why we weren’t seeing Rey toys in stores when The Force Awakens came out. I’ve worked really hard over the years to make sure we had a voice, and that geek women know they’re not alone. Things have started to change in the industry after the Wonder Woman film and with Captain Marvel coming out. We have She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. We have women fronting films and TV series, and — wait for it — not just one in every show! Imagine, we get to see more than one woman in a group of men, so that one woman doesn’t have to be everything. She doesn’t have to represent every hope and dream of what we want to see in a female superhero. She can just be…human. I wanted everyone to know that this was possible, and that when you represent the world, you have better entertainment.

To that end, I have an announcement. (You can check out the press release below.) Today Legion of Leia is moving to VitalThrills.com. You’ll still be able to find the articles we’ve done over the years right here, but going forward, we’ll be able to concentrate more on features that focus on women in geek entertainment. VitalThrills.com was started by Mirko Parlevliet, my friend and colleague, and I absolutely love the site. When choosing where to move what is, in essence, my baby, there was no other choice. VitalThrills.com keeps us all informed with news about movies, video games, TV and more, and I’m thrilled to be partnering up with the site and with Mirko.

The Legion of Leia podcast will continue as always! It will return in January with all new guests and topics, and Anastasia Washington and I are proud to be hosting the podcast at VitalThrills.com. If you are subscribed, you will continue to get alerts. If you’re not, go ahead and do so now right here! Make sure and leave us a rating and a review!

I’m really proud of what we’ve done at Legion of Leia over the years, and I’m beyond excited to see what is on the way in the future in our new home at VitalThrills.com! Join us over there and let’s get geeky! May the Force be with you, always!

HOUSTON, TX — VitalsThrills.com is proud to announce that Legion of Leia is joining VitalThrills.com. Legion of Leia will bring readers a female perspective of the entertainment industry, including movies, television shows, video games, music, and more. Founded by Jenna Busch in 2014, Legion of Leia’s mission is to raise awareness of the fact that women everywhere love sci-fi, fantasy and comics, as well as every other aspect of geek culture and genre entertainment, and their contributions to it are out of this world!

VitalThrills.com was created in 2018 by Mirko Parlevliet, who has been reporting on the entertainment industry since 1998. The site aims to bring you the most accurate news in the business. On a daily basis, you’ll find all the latest movie, TV, game, music, and theme park news at VitalThrills.com.

Mirko Parlevliet said: “Having two young daughters myself, I have already witnessed how much influence pop culture has on them. Bringing Legion of Leia on board will allow VitalThrills.com to cover, in-depth, badass women like Captain Marvel, Daenerys Targaryen, Lara Croft, and Wonder Woman, and equally the badass women who bring such characters to life.”

Jenna Busch has written and spoken about movies, TV, video games and comics all over the Internet for over a decade, co-hosted a series with Stan Lee, appeared on multiple episodes of Tabletop, written comic books and is a contributing author and assistant editor for the PsychGeeks book series, including “Star Wars Psychology.”

Jenna Busch added: “I created Legion of Leia to get the word out about female fans in the geek world. I’m beyond thrilled to be able to join Mirko at VitalThrills.com where we’ll have an even bigger platform to showcase our fandom and take deep dives into characters, shows, games and film. I love the site, and I think it will be the perfect home for the Legion.”

Legion of Leia is also home to a weekly Podcast in which Busch and writer Anastasia Washington (and assorted celebrity geek guests) take on the hot topics of the week.
