Rogue One gets the prequel treatment from Disney
Did you love Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story? Have you ever been curious to know more about his character? Well, we are now getting that opportunity with the announcement of a live-action series focusing on Cassian.
Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced that Lucasfilm is in the process of developing a second live-action Star Wars series for its upcoming independent streaming service set to launch next year. The series would follow the rebel spy prior to the events of Rogue One, so we will be able to see his development throughout the course of the Rebellion. Personally, I’m more interested in what the world of Star Wars will be like deep within the heart of the Rebellion’s development, but that’s just me.
Actor Diego Luna gave a statement about reprising the role of Cassian and how grateful he is for the opportunity to step into the Rebel’s shoes once more:
“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me. I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
Production is set to start sometime next year. There is no word yet as to when the series will launch.
What do you guys think of this news? Are you excited? Are you happy to see more of Cassian or do you wish they’d just focus on a different part of the Star Wars universe? Let us know in the comments or tweet us at @LegionofLeia.
