Today begins the first day of filming for the movie adaptation of [easyazon_link identifier=”1250004675″ locale=”US” tag=”legoflei07-20″]A Wrinkle in Time[/easyazon_link]. Let the countdown clock begin!
Director Ava DuVernay (Selma) posted on her Facebook page a picture (below) with the caption “Heading to the first shot of the first day. Feeling brave and strong and ready! Here we go! #WRINKLEINTIME.” You’ll also notice her pointing to her shit which says “I am my ancestors’ wildest dreams.”
The film is based on the Newbery Medal-winning novel of the same name, written by Madeleine L’Engle. The story follows Meg Murray and her younger brother Charles Wallace as they travel through space and time to search of their missing father. Joining them in their adventure is Meg’s friend Calvin.
This is indeed a historic event in filmmaking. With A Wrinkle in Time, DuVernay is the first woman of color to direct a live-action film with a production budget of over $100 million. Congratulations, Ava!
